The Ping Pong Serve Beginners to the game of ping pong are usually eager to practice rallying strokes which is a lot more fun than working on serves. If you want to excel in the game of ping pong however, this is one mistake you will want to avoid.
You also need to practice your serve and constantly strive to perfect it once you have master the basics of the ping pong serve. This is because a properly executed serve sets the stage for the following rally and it is to your advantage to control your serve well so you don’t make things easy on your opponent. You need to understand why the serve is important in table tennis and how you can continually work to improve it. You should first master the four basic serve types along with the various no spin deviations. Once you have the basics down pat, you can then move on to the more advanced serving styles. The two most popular advanced table tennis serves are the forehand reverse pendulum serve, and the forehand pendulum serve. Although these are the most popular and widely used serves among professionals, they are not for the beginning ping pong player. Remember that just as you are constantly working to improve your serves, so is your opponent. Therefore it is equally important to also become proficient in the art of return of service if you want to be a strong competitor in the game of ping pong. |
